Potty Training No More - at least until college

I gave up, I surrendered, I threw in the towel, I let Gabe win this fight. It wasn't all that hard to do. I was putting Gabe on the potty about every 15 minutes and he would sit there for a little bit and do a little pee which we would celebrate. Then he would go and pee and doo doo in his underpants. I HATE THAT!!! I have decided that at some point Gabe will be embarrased by wearing a diaper, maybe when he is six or seven and realizes that no one else has a stinky poopy diaper. Just kidding of course. Although I wish he could just be shamed or motivated to use the toilet all on his own. Any relatives or friends want to help? I'll take any volunteer potty trainer!! Just no sickos, please.

Potty Training

Gabe and I are working on potty training now. I started it today. So far, things are going pretty well. I set up a little movie for him and he can sit on his little throne and watch a show. Only two little accidents so far - not too bad. I am planning on staying home tomorrow and Wednesday, so we'll see how things go.

Ben's announcement

In church yesterday Ben loudly announced that he had to go pee and the reason he knew he had to go pee was because his "penis was long." Now that is a precious moment.

Ben's talk in church

Ben gave a talk in primary on Sunday and did a great job. I wish I could remember it verbatim but it went something like this, (Mike showed a picture of the earth) "Heavenly Father & Jesus created the earth. It is a very special planet. (picture of Adam & Eve) Heavenly Father also created people to look like Him, with a head, two arms, two legs, and a body. (picture of Joseph Smith and the vision) Jesus and Heavenly Father appeared to Joseph Smith and they have bodies, like me. I know I am a child of God." He said some other things, but I don't remember it all. But - he was the one that put it together and used his own words. It was really, REALLY cute.

I write a lot about Ben so I thought I would write a little about Gabe. We call him the little imp. He has this air of mischief that I find endearing and maddening at the same time. He teases Ben like crazy, much to Ben's chagrin. Ben yells at him a lot and I think Gabe's way of getting back at him is to quietly harrass him - move his toys, sneak things from him and run away only to throw it at Ben when he demands the item back. Sometimes I think Ben deserves it - he is a little bossy. Gabe has some wonderfully redeeming qualities - he is too dang cute and his smile is always contagious. And Gabe is very affectionate - loves to snuggle and give big juicy kisses. I'm a lucky mommy - I tell both of them that all the time.

Ben's funny feeling

Last Sunday while we were driving home from church - discussing what we learned, etc. Ben commented on his friend Rachel - who is in his primary class. Rachel is a very cute, very charismatic little girl and she seems to have this innate ability to charm people. Ben is not immune to her charms. He said, "Sometimes Rachel has a serious face when she talks and I really like her serious face. It gives me a funny feeling in my tummy." Oh dear.

Funny Stuff

I have a good friend Tamara and we go to her house and vice versa pretty often. However, I am shocked that she ever invites us to her house after all the mishaps my little boys have had there. Ben has peed all over the floor (carpet), gone number 2 in his pants and had to do a quick change into girl's clothes (Tamara has two little girls about the same age as Ben & Gabe).

Then, about 2 weeks ago, I was over at her house watching the kids and Gabe had a little cold. The kids had been having a grand old time, running around, screaming - the usual and Gabe started to cough uncontrollably just as Tamara walked in the door. The dreaded gagging started and pretty soon he was barfing up juice all over me, him, and the floor. Sorry Tamara! Sorry! Then a week later, she graciously watched the boys at her house while Mike and I went to a movie. When we got back to take the boys home Gabe was wearing a fancy new outfit. Tamara chuckled and informed me that Gabe had diarrhea and it leaked down his leg. Sorry Tamara! Sorry! Thankfully, we are still good friends.
